SØS Gunver Ryberg is a trailblazing, multidisciplinary composer, producer, and live performer whose work moves fluidly between concert halls, cutting-edge festivals, galleries, museums, and underground clubs. Her performances are not confined to traditional venues; through site-specific shows around the world she highlights a fearless and experimental approach, expanding the possibilities of music and sound.

Her music embodies a blend of futuristic and timeless musicality, fearlessly embracing the present while offering perspectives into an unknown future. She is known for her uncompromising intensity, which transforms the listener, opening consciousness to new dimensions through powerful and complex timbres and textures, as well as captivating rhythms.

Known for her innovative approach, her music defies genre conventions and embraces radical immersiveness, drawing listeners into powerful sound worlds. Beyond recordings and concerts, Ryberg expands into opera, installations, VR/AR experiences, 360 degrees Full Dome experiences, dance, film, and multichannel works—consistently challenging the boundaries of contemporary music. Her output is vibrant and continually evolving, an exploration of sound’s capacity to transform.

Her first orchestral and electronic piece COEXISTENCE was recorded by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and released on Platoon (2024). Her critically acclaimed release SPINE, Arterial (2023) explores a sensuous approach to the connectedness of everything, weaving elements of techno, ambient, and subsonic bass into an organic whole.

Her performances span an extensive list of acclaimed stages including Venice Biennale for Music (Venice, Italy), Berlin Philharmonie (Berlin, Germany), Flow Festival (Helsinki, Finland), Berghain (Berlin, Germany), Roskilde Festival (Roskilde, Denmark), Atonal Festival (Berlin, Germany), Amsterdam Dance Event (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Aphex Twin curates Warehouse Project (Manchester, UK), Corsica Studios (London, UK), Elevate Festival (Graz, Austria), CTM Festival (Berlin, Germany), Sonic Acts (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Donau Festival (Krems, Austria), Semibreve Festival (Lisbon, Portugal), TodaysArt Festival (The Hague, Netherlands), Lunchmeat Festival (Prague, Czech Republic), Issue Project Room (New York, USA), and Istanbul Biennale (Istanbul, Turkey).

She is also a presenter at conferences and has given invited talks at festivals, institutions, and organizations worldwide. She is celebrated as the first electronic composer to receive the prestigious Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl Nielsen Honorary Award, recognizing her groundbreaking contributions to music.

Her album WHYT 030 – The Sun Is New Every Day, (Avian 2019) was nominated for the Nordic Council Music Prize for its powerful and experimental sound, establishing her as one of today’s most innovative and exciting composers. Alongside this, she has received numerous other accolades for her work, including a BAFTA nomination for her contribution to the multi-award-winning video game INSIDE by Playdead.
